What makes Hobbs such a unique place is the many ways in which one can experience the use of the observatory. Many of which follow:

* University Research of Asteroids.

* Private programs and presentations upon request.  Programs are presented to schools at all levels, K-12 and college, scout groups, 4-H, senior citizens, etc.  Call Beaver Creek Reserve (715-877-2212) to learn more Monday - Thursday  8 am -2 pm and ask for AnnMarie.

* Public viewing available all clear Saturdays.  May through October.

* Public Lecture Series, starting at 8:00 pm, the third Saturday on every month with the exception of December.

* Mars Lander - first landing January 3rd  2004, 8:35 pm.   Check back for updates.

* Optics workshop coming again in May of 2004, check back later for actual dates.

* Starfest each August which includes guest speakers, exhibits, sharing of knowledge and tours of the night sky. This is limited in number of participants so watch this page for more information on Starfest. The dates for the next Starfest are August 5-6, 2005.  

* Visits to classrooms, etc., has been known to have happened at various time in the year. These depend on the schedule and time available by members of CVAS as their regular jobs will permit.

* Members of the CVAS meet the first Tuesday of the month in the observatory classroom. New members are always welcome.
