Hobbs Observatory Astronomical Series (HOAS) lectures are held on the third Saturday of the month (except December) at 8:00 pm in the classroom at Hobbs Observatory.   Lectures on various astronomical-related topics are presented by CVAS members and invited guests.  Programs run 45-60 minutes in length.  Topics can be found in the events calendar. If the skies are clear, public observing follows the program until 11 pm in May, June, July, and August and until 10 pm all other months.

Hobbs Public Observing sessions are held on all other clear Saturdays from May through October as volunteers are available.  Public observing starts about 45 minutes after sunset and continues for about two hours, but never later than 11 pm.

Note: There is no HOAS program or public observing the Saturday during Northwoods Starfest in August.

Phoenix Park Observing sessions in downtown Eau Claire are held about once a month on an evening around the first quarter moon late spring through early fall. Follow CVAS on Facebook to get these event notifications.

Northwoods Starfest (NWSF) is an annual star party hosted by CVAS.  The star party is held on the weekend near the new moon in August.  More information can be found on the NWSF page.

Astronomy Day is hosted by CVAS and the UW-Eau Claire Department of Physics and Astronomy. Astronomy Day is typically held on the first Saturday in May on the UW-Eau Claire campus in and around the main entrance to Phillips Science Hall.  The event features various displays on astronomical tops, free planetarium shows, and solar observing if the skies are clear.
